Two years before launching their flagship stores, Apple Computer experimented with “implant” or “store within a store” concepts. Two pilate stores were built inside CompUSA stores in the US; San Francisco and New York City. Japanese computer retailers Comp-Mart, Sofmap and Deodeo opened 36 Apple stores within their larger stores.
