Combining preservation of a historical building with affordable housing, this project in San Francisco contains sixty loft apartments, ranging from 250 square–foot efficiency studios to 550 square–foot two–bedroom units. The compact design of these micro-lofts maintains elements of the original commercial structure built in 1906, with a completely renovated infrastructure. In keeping with its urban character, Polychrome used both custom made and off–the–shelf industrial components in the interiors.
