Boudin Bakery

Brand Strategy and Flagship Store Design

client: Boudin Bakery

Boudin Bakery is one of the oldest companies in San Francisco; its history dates back to the Gold Rush of 1849. As part of a concerted effort to refocus their brand and customer experience, Polychrome conducted customer experience analysis of their operations and organized brand strategy workshops with Boudin management.

As an extension of Polychrome’s strategic work for Boudin Bakery, we provided design and material specifications for a new flagship store at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. The vocabulary, consistent with the Boudin brand “personality” that was developed, included sophisticated historical references to Boudin's origins and turn-of-the-century local vernacular. The 30,000 sq.ft. location includes retail sales, dining, exhibits, and a working bakery. See Boudin at the Wharf.
